Taking the Oversight Thereof

In 1 Peter 5, the Apostle Peter exhorted the elders to feed the flock of God among them, willingly taking the pastoral oversight. You can be sure that where scripture admonishes us in a certain direction, that admonition exists because we need the reminder or the extra push to get us moving. Elders should always remember that it is God who drafted us into His service, as a soldier who must endure hardship. Our lives, though they were never our own, are that much more under the leadership of God as we are to serve God by serving His people. We must feed His sheep! Our careers, comfort, and even sometimes our hometown roots - if required - go out the window, as no man that plows looking back is fit for service in the Kingdom. Elders should know this up front. This is what's expected.

In this message, Pastor Winslett considers Peter's exhortation to other ministers and the theme is simple: If God has called you to serve, be willing to do so.
